Achondroplasia is the most common kind of bone disorder. It causes dwarfism- (condition that makes people small.)
It is a defect in cartilage turing into bone.

CAUSES-Their are two possible causes of dwarfism 1 is genetic mutation of the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3(FGFR3), 2nd is you can also get it through a new mutation of the FGFR3 gene or you can inherit the alternated gene form your parents. Majority of the gene is through a gene mutation.

SYMPTONS-is a bone growth disorder, the cartliage has difficulty converting to bone for people with the disease, especially in the longer bones.

Another sign is an average-sized trunk (chest, stomach), a large head, and short legs and arms.

There has been problems with a demormity of the spine, uneven limbs strengths.

Treatments- There is no treatment for this disorder, but other conditions caused by this disorder can be treated. (stenosis-hardening of the spinal fluid. and spinal cord compression.) image Achondroplasia.png

History- Oldest known disorder but the gene for it was not found until 1994. It was present in ancient Egypt and people with it were used as inspiration for art-(they were the subject of art.) It was seen as activites of demons, punishment by the gods, and movement of the stars and moon.

Mutations- People with this have average/regular sized parents. In the majority of cases it's a new mutation in the FGFR3 gene. Scientists still do not know why, when and how this mutation occured.

Life Time: People with this disease can live for a long time. They will need to make codominations for them but can live long lives while they are very healthy. If a baby has two the two sets of this then they only have a few months to live.
